No. 7: Questions for McCain
August 3rd 2008 20:51
In our last post, we asked about 20 questions of Barak Obama. As I said, there are many more queries out there, they just were not listed here. After all, he has spent only 146 days actively in the U.S. Senate.
The reason for so many questions was that B.O. is a relative unknown and he seems to be unwilling to tell us more. What most of the people with whom I speak express is that he is saying what he thinks people want to hear and not divulging his real background or agenda.
John McCain, on the other hand, has been in the public eye for many years and most of his background is known. We, therefore, do not need to ask as many questions. There have been some emails sent around which may be only rumor and sent to defame and discredit. But, then again, they may have some merit also. Who knows? Since I do not know enough of his background for the Internet issues raised, I cannot respond by asking such questions here.
If you may know of more, please comment at the end of this post. I will do some research and possibly post the information and/or question in the future.
Questions for John McCain --
Question 1: Why did you not spend more time and/or effort to help the families of missing Vietnam P.O.W.s who begged for your help on many occasions?
Question 2: Did you personally block any efforts to aid the same, as has been reported?
Question 3: Why have you been involved in illegal amnesty legislation? Are we not a nation of laws?
Question 4: Would you not agree that speaking and writing a unified and common language is best for any country?
Question 5: Would you consider English only legislation in the future?
Question 6: Will you consider building a border fence any time in the future?
Question 7: If it is proven Iran is ready to construct its first nuclear weapon, would you support a pre-emptive strike?
Question 8: Would you send troops and/or planes into Pakistan if the need arose?
Question 9: Would you support legislation for congressional term limits?
Question 10: With the exception of a dinner out to discuss issues, would you support legislation to forbid any personal gifts to members of Congress by any lobbying organization or individual?
Question 12: Would you support legislation placing all congressional members and their families on the same Social Security program as the general public and removing the same from special health benefits?
Question 13: If elected president, will you place country before party?
Question 14: Would you consider abolishing the IRS and instituting a flat tax or sales tax in its place?
Once again, this is in no way a comprehensive list of questions that should be asked. I just thought a partial list could keep us all sharp.

On another political note, there is no doubt that public approval of the U.S. Congress is at a very low level. Many people just plain distrust what is said and done by the members. Why? Could it be that we have been promised too much and too little has been done for far too long?
I remember spending nearly an hour on the phone with a then want-to-be congressman. He was open and answered all my questions. I asked him directly, "If you are up there (Washington) and get taken into a back room and read the unwritten conduct rules, will you resist, actually keeping your conscience. How will you get anything done?"
His reply was: "I will be a one-term congressman. I have no intention of being manipulated by anyone." My wife and I voted for him. He spent two terms. Based on his promises to me personally, we were shocked at some of his voting record also.
The next post will be on a different subject altogether. Whew! I am ready for a change, aren't you?
Keep it between the lines...
