Part V: Media Control

Highway to Sanity
What a ride!

Final Word on Media Control (for now).

We do not want to "beat a dead horse," as they say, so I will move onto other subjects after this post. We all know the topic of media control has only been touched. There is also much in addition to discuss, and examples to be given, but we must have another look later.

Today's views on media control must involve current American bias in politics. I was not going into political discussion yet, but the ongoing farce we see on major U.S., and international television, and in the print media, demand it.

The Internet is awash in inuendo and hyperbole for both major U.S. presidential candidates. This seems to happen at each election cycle. Who could forget the 2000 election and the U.S. Supreme Court decision? Al Gore may have won the popular vote, but he lost the electoral college approval. Cries of "foul" reverberated throughout the land. This caused many, many Americans to feel slighted and cheated--justified or not. Many of them never forgot and vowed revenge.

The 2004 election race between John Kerry and George Bush had all the word fighting expected, only without the physical fisticuffs again. We remember the MoveOn.org anti-Bush advertisements, and the ex-Navy swift-boat personnel denouncing Kerry's claim to war hero fame. They may have been there and correct in their testimonies. I was not, so cannot say.

Each of these campaigns seemed to raise the mark for higher and higher
nastiness and bitterness. The media encouraged this and played a noticeable part in pushing up the bar. They got more attention this way.

Now, it is 2008. I will not walk gingerly here. The same media moguls who fostered the enmity between people and their partisan affiliations is continuing the tirade.

Whether or not you preferred Hillary Clinton over Barak Obama or vice versa, one has to admit that the media mocked, laughed at and verbally cast "tar and feathers' at Hillary while Obama was praised and exalted. Most will now admit she was not given a fair shake.

Now, the same is happening to John McCain, a war hero and long-time senator.

Obama (B.O.) is seen as the poor kid who rose from the ranks of abject poverty to the high mission of leading America. I am not certain the legend is all together accurate.

To most world media, he is a symbol of racial harmony and social maturity in America. The media state he is the first "Black" to run for our supreme commander position. Yet, he is half caucasian. How can this be?

In most of the media, B.O. can do no wrong. His misfeats and gaffs are smoothed over or ignored while his opponents' are paraded before the people in an endless procession.

Here are some examples: When McCain went on his last trip to Iraq (he has been a number of times), most of the American press ignored him. CBS was generous. It is reported they gave him 31-word-mention on their prominent evening newscast. B.O. had the entire major network evening news anchors, and their entourages, to capture his every pose, photo op. and speech.

On the Internet there are articles stating they are written by people who are in Iraq and watched him ignore U.S. troops while shooting basketball or
on the way to other photo opportunities.

This is on the Net as I write:

"Just in case you happened to see the ABC News piece(if you watch ABC News) with interviews of 5 military folks in Iraq - 3 planned to vote for Obama and 2 for Hillary; no mention of any McCain supporters. Well, here's the 'Rest of the Story.'

***************************** ***************************** **************

This from Major General (ret) Buckman, a close friend of ours.

***************************** ***************************** **************

My niece, Katelyn, stationed at Baluud, Iraq was assigned, with others of her detachment, to be escort/guard/watcher for Martha Raddatz of ABC News as she covered John McCain's recent trip to Iraq . Katelyn and her Captain stood directly behind Raddatz as she queried GIs walking past. They kept count of the GIs and you should remember these numbers. She asked 60 GIs who they planned to vote for in November. 54 said John McCain, 4 for Obama and 2 for Hillary.

Katelyn called home and told her Mom and Dad to watch ABC news the next night because she was standing directly behind Raddatz and maybe they'd see her on TV. Mom and Dad of course, called and emailed all the kinfolk to watch the newscast and maybe see Katelyn. Well, of course, we all watched and what we saw wasn't a glimpse of Katelyn, but got a hell'uva view of skewed news. After a dissertation on McCain's trip and speech, ABC showed 5 GIs being asked by Raddatz how they were going to vote in November; 3 for Obama and 2 for Clinton . No mention of the 54 for McCain."
.

There are a myriad of questions about B.O. that are never asked in the print and air media, but are posited all over the Internet. If you want to find out more, I suggest you start searching the Net and look for yourself. I will not get into the questions in this post, since the subject relates to media treatment and not to the politics per se.

There is more, but I must leave it up to you to search for yourself. Just, please recall that we should not get suckered into anything without as many facts as we can garner for our own judgment. Anything less is opening ourselves to mind control and the purveyors of it are experts in the art.

I pledge to change the topic next post.

Keep between the lines.
